baseball-guys-homeKaskey Kids gave me the opportunity to surprise TJ with a free set of Baseball Guys to play with. Baseball Guys are just part of the larger Sports Guys line that also includes Football Guys, College Football Guys, Hockey Guys, Soccer Guys, and Soccer Girls.

Baseball guys comes with a full set of players for both the red team and the blue team. You get a pitcher, catcher, and seven guys to play each position (first base, second base, short stop, third base, left field, center field, and right field) as well as a batter and three base runners. You get both leftie and rightie fielders. You also get an umpire. At first, I was disappointed at the lack of detail on each of the little guys… but the details are all there. It’s just hard to make out facial expressions and such on completely blue or red plastic. The baseball field is made of green felt. There’s also a scoreboard, but TJ likes to play with that separately, so I could not find it in order to photograph it. I did have to supoerglue one of the pieces of the scoreboard on so the middle wheel would stop falling off. I’m not sure if it was supposed to be a removable piece or if it got broken. In any case, the scoreboard functions just fine since the superglue.

This is how I set up the game, where the blue team had the bases loaded and their cleanup hitter at bat.

Don’t mind my horrible carpet. This is how TJ wanted to play with it…

The more, the merrier… right? We’re still trying to teach him how baseball works. We’re very much a baseball family. Tom played baseball when he was younger, and he was a catcher. I played softball when I was younger, and I was a pitcher. I was pretty good at pitching, but I truly sucked at batting and catching the ball. Oops. My oldest brother was on the all-star baseball team and travelled all over New York State for tournaments. My entire family consists of loyal Mets fans. (The past few years are a touchy subject around here.) But that’s pretty much why I chose Baseball Guys over the other Sports Guys.

  1. I would choose the College Football Guys (University of Illinois). The regular football guys’ pants are way too shiny, and with the college ones, I can pretend they’re in some horrific alternate universe where they have to play football against themselves! It’s so mind-blowingly crazy (like figuring out who’s really the “away” team)!

  2. I would choose the Football Guys, in Green vs. Black if I had the ultimate choice, because the black ones look like the Oakland Raiders, and though they… well, haven’t played their best in years, all three of us are fans.

I follow you on Twitter, subscribe to the RSS, and am a Facebook fan. 🙂
