I have a working relationship with McDonald’s of the Capital District. I had to miss one of their recent events introducing some of their new sirloin burgers because of health issues, and they were nice enough to send me a gift pack in the mail so that I could try the burgers on my own. Now, they’ve come to me asking if I could help spread the word about National Egg Day on June 3, when they will be offering Egg McMuffins for only 63 cents each during normal breakfast hours. (63 cents on 6/3. Get it?)
In case you were wondering, McDonald’s Egg McMuffins have been around for over 40 years. They’re still made with freshly cracked eggs, Canadian bacon, American cheese, and a freshly toasted English muffin, all for 300 calories. The “freshly cracked” part means that the egg on your McMuffin is a real egg, not a powdered or liquid egg mixture.
While I used to prefer the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit for breakfast at McDonald’s, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that the healthier items on the McDonald’s menu are better choices for me. I really appreciate McDonald’s efforts to offer healthier menu items and use better ingredients as time goes by. With fresh eggs, leaner Canadian bacon, and an English muffin with 8 grams of whole grain, Egg McMuffins are the healthier* choice my stomach thanks me for.
(* As compared to the 460-calorie Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit. I am not trying to make any health claims about McDonald’s foods. They are a fast food joint, after all, but some menu choices are better than others!)

Egg McMuffins make me happy. They have it all- eggs, cheese, a little meat, bread. All put together in one quick sandwich of breakfast happiness! 🙂 When I eat one on the way to school, I feel so much better and I can concentrate better too. Plus McDonalds has better coffee than Starbucks, less expensive too. You can’t go wrong with McDonalds and writing this is making me hungry for McDonalds!

The best way to make my wife happy is to bring her an Egg McMuffin to her work, with a big cup of coffee. The smile on her face is a mile wide!
