I’ve previously worked with 77kids for a children’s apparel review last year, so I was happy to oblige when they contacted me about reviewing more kids clothes this spring. If you haven’t heard of it, 77kids is a younger version of American Eagle, and their stores are super fun for kids. While I was shopping for TJ’s Easter outfit with the gift card I was provided, he was getting his picture taken at the 77kids photo booth and turning his photo into a JibJab-esque video that sent him into a fit of giggles. (Tom was supervising.)

I really liked the “look” I’d been pitched, but I was having trouble locating the pieces. Thanks to my Droid, I was able to pull up the email I’d received so I could show one of the salespeople the picture of the shirt I was looking for. She knew exactly where it was and pointed me in the right direction.

How amazingly cute is that?

The plaid shirt, the t-shirt underneath, and the blue pin-striped pants are all from 77kids. Not visible is the necklace from 77kids with the blue anchor pendant. (TJ likes trying on his cousin Avery’s play jewelry, so I figured he should have a “manly” necklace of his own from the boys section.)

TJ didn’t mind trying everything on in the dressing room. As a matter of fact, it was hard to get him out! You see, the boys’ dressing room has a porthole that you can open up and peek out of. It also says “NO GIRLS ALLOWED.” There are skateboard wheels on the clothing hooks to play with, too. So he didn’t mind when I asked him to try on multiple pairs of pants. (We ended up buying a gray pair that I don’t have a picture of, as well.)

There’s enough room in the sleeves so we can roll them up if the weather ends up being warm on Easter. I’m going to have to haul out my new iron, though, because the pants did get a bit wrinkly in the wash. (Side note: that may be partially due to the fact that they sat in the dryer for two days…)

The regular prices at 77kids are a bit steeper than what I normally like to pay for kids clothes, but if you happen to hit a good sale like we did (40% all tops!) you can really score big. 77kids guarantees all of their clothing through 77 washes, which may not mean much if your kid grows out of them in just a few months…but if you have a family of say, three boys, you could buy outfits for the big kid that won’t look like hand-me-downs by the time the youngest is wearing them. (That would justify the regular prices if I had more than one kid. Those $5 t-shirts from Walmart certainly won’t last after they’ve been washed and re-washed when they get handed down.)

And your kids will like the in-store activities they have available while you find clothes for them to try on. There’s even a “goodie bar” where your kids can pick a prize at the checkout counter – stickers, temporary tattoos, and candy are the usual selections.

Do you have a 77kids store near you? If so, are your kids as hard to drag out of the store as TJ is? I swear, it’s the only place I can shop where he’s begging me to stay instead of go!

Thanks to 77kids for providing the gift card for our Easter outfit shopping trip. Thanks as well to Picture People, who took the photos of TJ in his new clothes. I bought the photo CD that allows sharing online, so what a great way to showcase my little man in my new blog layout, too! (Note: New blog layout coming later today. Ran out of time this morning.)
