Dear TJ,

I’ve been really busy and really tired lately. I’m sorry. I know you don’t understand. It’s hard to explain to you why I don’t go to work at an office anymore. I am much happier working at home for my new writing business, but it’s thrown you off a bit. You still go over to Grandma Kitty’s house so I can get work done, but it’s been upsetting you when I meet you for lunch. You started crying when I came to Cracker Barrel yesterday because you thought that I was going to take you home. It took a bit of convincing to reassure you that you were going to stay with Grandma Kitty and go to play at Tumbling Tykes in the afternoon as usual.

You’ve been extra sensitive lately. I’m not sure how much is due to the changes at home and how much is due to the nasty cough you picked up. You had a meltdown last night when you thought that Daddy was using your bowl, and you couldn’t be convinced that we have 10 bowls that look exactly alike. Tupperware is like that, buddy.

I do get to see you a lot more than I did before I got laid off from my job, and I hope that you and I will be able to adjust accordingly. It was nice to play Candy Land with you this morning, wasn’t it?

Love,
Mommy

  1. Its hard for them to understand the changes in our working lives. Happily children are very flexible and soon all will be running smoothly for you. Especially at the age that TJ is now – he has so much testosterone racing in his veins – he is likley to have melt downs – not due to what you are doing or not doing – its his reaction to the frustration he is feeling at not being able to comomunicate and all those hormones running rampent.

Just stay consistant – he will respond to your love and consistancy…
