TJ has been waking up far too early for the past few weeks. As far as Mommy and Daddy are concerned, 6:30 may as well be the middle of the night. But that’s when TJ has been waking up, almost without fail, for weeks.

It’s not just too early for us, though. It’s too early for him, as well. When he wakes up, he’s cranky. And he gets really, really fussy by bedtime. So this was a problem.

Then we had an idea: maybe it was too bright in TJ’s room when the sun came up. We’d replace his vinyl blinds with some bamboo roll-up blinds a few weeks ago, and they did let a bit more light in.

So two nights ago, we hung some fleece blankets over both windows in TJ’s room. He slept until 7:30. One more hour! It was almost 7:30 when he woke up this morning, too.

“Bright and early” is not a good thing in this house. I guess we’ll have to keep those blankets over the windows for a while!
