Potty training is very frustrating.

In this house, special big boy potty stickers are a very good incentive. TJ wants to sit on the potty all the time. Between 8:00 and 9:00 this morning, I took him to the bathroom four times. He peed in the potty once, earning a sticker that he again placed on his tummy.

He spent the day with my mother-in-law while I got some work done. He didn’t earn any stickers at her house.

But when he came home tonight, he earned three more stickers over the course of about an hour. I lost track of how many times he actually asked to sit on the potty in order to earn those stickers. I was only present for one of them. Daddy witnessed the other two.

Twice today, TJ asked to use the potty for “big poopers.” Both times, he was a little late in the asking. He knows when he’s gone, but he doesn’t yet know when to ask before he goes. It’s much easier for him to tell when he has to pee. But the fact that he knew he had the messy pants to change is a good thing.

I wonder how many potty trips I have in store for me tomorrow!
