Dear TJ,

Yesterday morning, I had to get up early to go to Social Media Breakfast Tech Valley. For your purposes, I told you I had to go to a meeting for work. You normally don’t even see me in the morning, but you told me that you would be sad when I left because you would miss me. When I went out to get in the van, you came outside in your bare feet and jammies, tears streaming down your face, with Daddy standing behind you. I had to promise I’d have lunch with you in order to get you to stop crying before I could leave.

Today, you had a birthday party for your friend Evan at Tumbling Tykes. Grandma Kitty took you because she’s the one who takes you there during the week and knows all the moms and the kids. This morning, I told you that I would be sad because I would miss you while you were at the party. You said, “I know.”

So I asked if you would stay with me so I wouldn’t be sad. You said no. I asked if I could take you to the party instead of Grandma Kitty. “Actually,” you told me, “I would like Grandma Kitty to take me.”

I get it, buddy. You don’t want me cramping your style. I didn’t think this would be an issue for several more years, but oh well.

I may need to remind you of this the next time I have a meeting to go to, though. 😉

Love,

Mommy
