Dear TJ,

You are a picky eater. You’re my son, so it was inevitable. We’ve been trying to get you to try new foods, or retry foods you used to eat but decided you don’t like anymore, by using a sticker chart. You get a sticker every time you try something different, and after six stickers, you get to pick out a $5 toy at Target. You have two of them so far after two weeks of trying this.

You earned your first sticker when you announced that you wanted to try some of my pasta earlier this week. We’d been trying to convince you that baked ziti was “pizza pasta,” and you had eaten the string cheese and cereal you’d asked to have for dinner instead… But I let you try a bite. You loved it. You asked for more. I ended up having to give you a bowl of ziti for your own! But to make sure you didn’t try to tell me later on that you don’t like baked ziti, I got it on video! That way, I can always remind you that you liked it.

Here are the two videos we made that night to drive the point home:

Love,

Mommy
