It’s far too early in the morning for me, but here I am! We’ve just finished up breakfast in the Grand Ballroom at Hilton New York on the first day of the BlogHer ’10 Conference. I’m sitting here with @slpowell, @ResourcefulMom, @MilitaryMama, @TechyDad, @TheAngelForever, and @typeamom.

BlogHer founders Elisa Camahort Page, Jory Des Jardins, and Lisa Stone have taken the stage for the Welcome and State of the Blogosphere. The sound system is making it very difficult to understand everyone. Did I hear correctly, that there are 3,400 people here? Shoutout to Tutus for Tanner.

“We are here today because what you do is beautiful and powerful.”

Oh, and thank you, Tropicana, for the wonderful breakfast.

There are 163.8 million adults in the United States. 87.1 million of these people are women online. I missed the number of how many women are blogging. I believe it was in the 50-55 million range.

The BlogHer audience is 8 times more likelt to read blogs daily and 7 times more likely to use Twitter daily than the rest of the U.S. population. We are super communicators. We use social networks, but we prefer blogs for almost every purpose. These info graphics are not being kept on the screens long enough for livebloggers to get the info down!

BlogHer is the “conference that community built.”

“I personally would love to be the best mom I can be to my kids, but I don’t want to ever forget that my little girl dream was to be a writer.” – Sugar Jones

Writing lab is a big thing this year, along with the job lab. Because, you know, the economy still sucks, and they want to help.

To avoid confusion, any party or event held at the Hilton is officially sponsored by BlogHer. Unofficial parties are all being hosted offsite. People without RSVPs to some of the official parties may be able to get into them anyways if they are not full to capacity.

There are swag room drops? I didn’t get anything. I need to track down Lisa and give her my business card.

Everyone got a water bottle in their swag bags, and there will be water stations in every session room.

Not everyone here is a mom. We blog about topics from parenting to politics. We blog about everything under the sun, and they’re trying to emphasize the diversity of the group we have here. Lisa urges media members to attend the sessions and not to stereotype the bloggers here.

The expo hall is pretty packed with great sponsors. There is a passport in our swag bags that we can get marked and, by doing so, donate money for clean water.

The art auction tonight, sponsored by kirtsy, will be benefitting the Gulf Coast and nature conservancy.

BlogHer ’11 will be in San Diego, California on August 5-6, 2011 at the San Diego Convention Center!

Speed dating is next!
