IHOP Do-Gooders

While enjoying lunch with my mom and company at the IHOP in Clifton Park, NY today – March 22, 2016 – we were one of three tables remaining when the pair of older women sitting in the far corner were getting ready to pay their bill and leave. To their surprise and delight, their server informed them that their check had already been paid. My mom was quick to say that it wasn’t us, so that left the table with the two young women in the other corner. I asked for permission to snap the young women’s photo before we left:

Brava, ladies!

I wasn’t able to get a decent picture of the older ladies before they left, but I did get this one:

IHOP Ladies

I didn’t have time to adjust my camera settings for being backlit, so I did what I could with the picture I got.

“Why’d you do that?” asked the woman with her coat on, approaching the table with the young women.

The women shrugged and said they just wanted to do something nice.

“You must have a lot of money!” the older woman continued.

The younger women laughed.

As the older ladies were walking out of the restaurant, the one with her coat on in the picture stopped at our table to say that “it just goes to show that kindness can be found anywhere” and that these young women were “sure to reap the rewards of their kindness a hundred times over!”

We agree. An act of kindness can go a long way. Be the good you want to see in the world!
