It may seem like a small, silly thing, but TJ and I have a date every evening around 5:00 pm. I say around 5:00 pm because we have to rewind to the beginning of Wild Kratts on our DVR after he gets home from my mother-in-law’s house. If you aren’t familiar with Wild Kratts, it’s a mostly-animated series on PBS Kids that teaches children about wild animals that you’ve probably never heard of. (What’s a remora? My son knows.)
But the point of my story here is that, for about 20 seconds every afternoon, TJ and I have “our moment.” When the Wild Kratts theme song comes on, he pulls me up out of my chair to dance with him. The two of us have terrible dancing skills, but it’s the enthusiasm that counts. We dance like crazy people and shout the words CREATURE POWER at the appropriate line of the theme song.
“Mommy, come on! We gotta dance!”
It can be music to my ears after a long, stressful day.
Love those moments with the kids. Hmmm….not sure I am familiar with the show. Guess we need to set the DVR. Happy dancing with TJ 🙂
That’s so sweet! Special moments like these are harder to come by as the kids get older, but you’ll always treasure these memories.
My son just discovered the Wild Kratts and loves the show and song as well. It’s so sweet that the 2 of you created a special moment out of the intro to a show. It’s always the little things in life that count the most.
AS YOU MAY KNOW I have had a terrible crush on Chris Kratt since I was SIXTEEN. So I’m thrilled that Ro watches this show all the time. Just sayin’.
That is really adorable – and certainly a special time for you and your son! Chris and Martin Kratt are really remarkable guys – at PBS we actually interviewed them about their show The Wild Kratts on The Parent Show this week, if you’re interested in checking it out!

They also created the show “Zoboomafoo” that deals with animals and has a reeeaaalllly catchy dance-able theme song! 😉
