I just couldn’t sleep
I tossed and turned all night long
So tired the next day

He was up early
So excited about his
First day of preschool

Butterflies fluttered
About inside my stomach
I could barely eat

He told us to leave
Quite content to play around
In his new classroom

I had to take an
Anti-anxiety pill
Just to make it through

He had so much fun
He didn’t want to leave when
It was time to go

Still, I’m happy that
He enjoyed himself so much
And wants to go back

  1. Oh, he’s going through a tough phase for us Moms. The pulling away never gets easier… Hugs to you. I still get emotional when my kids start a new grade.
