When TJ woke up at 6:00 this morning, I thought he felt a little warm, but his forehead felt normal by the time I left for work and Kitty came over to bring him to school.

I later got an IM from Tom telling me that TJ was sick. He left school with a note in his backpack about Fifth Disease, and he had all the symptoms. Including a bright red splotch on his cheek that hadn’t been there earlier.

Kitty made an appointment for TJ to see the pediatrician, and Tom met her there because today was his early day at work. The pediatrician confirmed that he has Fifth Disease.

When I got home, I spent an hour lying on the living room floor with TJ. (He had his pillow and bedspread on the floor.) He absolutely denies that his face is red. He doesn’t want to have a temperature. And despite the fact that he threw up twice earlier, he got very upset when I told him no to drinking milk.

He looks very pitiful and sad, but he is able to smile and laugh.

My poor Pooks. But he’s not contagious at this point, so as soon as he feels better, he can go about his day as usual.
