Dear Thomas Jr.,
I kind of want to throttle you right now. Not only did you get up at 6:30 this morning and refuse to go back to sleep, but you’ve been mean and whiny ever since. I tried letting you climb into bed with me and Daddy, but you refuse to lie still and stop making noises. When I told you to get up, you protested that you wanted to sleep. I told you we could sleep downstairs on the sofa instead.
When we got downstairs, you refused to lie down on the couch next to me, and you pulled your pillow out from under my head. You threw the pillow on the floor and walked away from it, saying you didn’t want to share it with me, and that you wanted it to stay on the floor. You did the same thing when I tried to pick the pillow up a few minutes later. Mean.
I’d say I don’t know what your problem is, but I do. You’re tired, but you’re refusing to even try to go back to sleep. You insist that when the sun comes up, that automatically means that it’s morning, which automatically means it’s time to be awake. No matter how tired and cranky you are and how desperately you (and I) need more sleep. The sun is going to keep getting up earlier and earlier, and this cannot continue.
You’re still being mean to me, and you refuse to apologize for being mean. Until you’re ready to stop being mean, and apologize, I’m not going to give in to your requests to turn up the volume on the TV, open up a package of stickers, or make you a Wild Berry Pop Tart. (You already had a Nutrigrain Bar, so it’s not like I’m starving you.)
Sincerely,
Your Mother
Wanna play? Here’s how to participate in Dear Kid Saturday:
1. Write your own Dear Kid letter on your blog.
2. Sign the Mr Linky below with your name and the link to your Dear Kid post – the specific post URL, not the homepage of your blog. DON’T sign unless you have a Dear Kid letter this week.
3. Grab a Dear Kid Saturday button for your post and/or your sidebar.
Mr Linky!
Joe also believes he has to be up the second the sun comes up. Since it is so small in here and there are no doors to close off rooms, I stay in bed while he plays because no matter where he is, I can see him. He wakes me up, but never realizes I’m awake. 🙂 I am going to miss that when we move out of here.
Hey, maybe he’ll take a nap later.
Change the name to Jake and I’m telling you, I could have written this letter myself. I feel your pain!
They just get so tired and beyond “it” – meaning everything…. I feel for you… All I can say is that its a phase and if you don’t make too much of a fuss – it passes … in time… lets hope you don’t die of exhastion before then… hugs
heres my link to Dear Kid Sat.. – I couldn’t find the Mr Linky thingy today???
