Dear TJ,

The two of us went to Tumbling Tykes last night. You got to have a pizza party and play with the other kids while I got to talk with the other mommies who have their own businesses. You had a great time and didn’t want to leave, even though we were there for nearly three hours!

When we got home, you didn’t unbuckle your seat belt when I stopped the van. I opened the door and asked you why. You said you couldn’t do it because of your broken fingers.

I’d noticed that you had cut your finger at the party. You said you did it on the “soap thing,” so I can only assume you got your finger stuck in the soap dispenser in the bathroom. It didn’t bother you, though, until we got home and you were no longer playing. You cried all the way in the house and up the stairs for your shower. You cried  during pretty much your entire shower, too. Because of your “broken fingers.”

Daddy and I had to try very hard not to laugh.

I told you I’d put some ointment on your finger to make it feel better, but that made you cry harder. So I changed up my presentation and told you I had some magic medicine that would make it feel better. You didn’t even want to play in the bathtub because you wanted to get out and have the magic medicine.

For some inexplicable reason, you didn’t want a Band-Aid either, but I told you that you had to have a Band-Aid on to keep the magic medicine on. I got your Diego Band-Aids, and you cried and said, “Not Diego! He’s not my favorite!” But that’s what we had, so that’s what you got.

You finally settled down after the magic medicine (aka triple antibiotic ointment) and the Band-Aid were in place, and you went to sleep without too much more drama.

When you got up this morning, you still insisted that your broken finger needed to get “more better,” but that it did feel “a wittle bit better.”

Love,
Mommy
