Nibblers Real Cheese Snacks

Snacks are a big deal in our house, and we do love our cheese. It wasn’t hard to say yes when I was asked if I’d like to try some Nibblers 100% real cheese snacks from Crystal Farms. The timing was a little off, as I was out of town when the samples were delivered to my house, but Tom arranged to work from home that day so he could accept the delivery and get everything into the fridge before it spoiled.

Nibblers Taste Test: Chipotle Pepper, Smoky BBQ, and Sour Cream & Onion

To be honest, I wasn’t interested in two of the flavors. Mention the words “BBQ” or “Chipotle” and I’ll generally shy away. But I knew that Tom would be happy to try them, and I was right. I had the Sour Cream & Onion flavor all to myself, which I ate with some Wheat Thins. I did enjoy the cheese, but the flavor was so intense that I probably should’ve stuck to eating just half of the single-serving package instead of the whole thing. I couldn’t have eaten the cheese without crackers to temper the richness of the flavor. A heartier cracker, like a Triscuit, may have helped, too. Though the bite-sized cheese is so tiny, it takes several pieces to adequately top a cracker.

I asked Tom for his opinion on the two flavors he tried. Very helpfully, he gave me a thumbs up and said, “Good cheese.”

I guess that’s why he’s not the reviewer in the family.

When pressed to expound upon that, he said, “It was fantastic… I definitely like the Chipotle Pepper one better. But the smoked BBQ was good.” He’s the one who always seeks out bold and spicy flavors, and he had no complaints about the intensity of either cheese he tried. This is the man who likes to tell wing joints to make them as hot as they can.

So my assessment is that Nibblers is best enjoyed by people who have bold taste. If you like your flavors big, you’ve found your cheese.

Nibblers Nutrition and Such

Here’s the part where I give you the little blurb provided to me about Nibblers:

Nibblers come in 1.5-ounce stand-up bags and are available in four flavors, including Smoky BBQ seasoned Cheddar cheese, Habanero seasoned Pepper Jack cheese, Chipotle Pepper seasoned Cheddar cheese, and Sour Cream & Onion seasoned Monterey Jack cheese.

The Sour Cream & Onion flavor I tried had 110 calories, while both of the packages Tom tried had 120 calories. If you can eat the cheese without additional crackers, it’s not a calorie-heavy snack – and each serving contains 9-10 grams of protein. Protein is good for ongoing energy and making you feel fuller longer. Each serving also contains about 30% of your Daily Value of calcium. (This is why cheese can be good for you, generally speaking, as long as it’s in moderation. Single-serving bags help you to not cross that line into eating too much cheese where the fat content overshadows the nutritional value.) And Nibblers are made with 100% real cheese.

Thanks to Crystal Farms for sending us some tasty cheese to try and tell our readers about!
