These are the lyrics to the song parody I came up with, Severus Snape and Harry Potter singing to the tune of “Lily’s Eyes” from the Broadway musical The Secret Garden. This is slightly spoilerish if you have not yet finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7). I would prefer that you do not copy or use these lyrics, only link to them, but if you do decide to produce a derivative work (audio recording, online video, etc.) there are two things required. One, you must link this page. Two, please post a comment here to let me see what you’ve done with it. If I like it enough, I’ll post a separate entry with a link and to sing your praises.

HARRY POTTER

Harry Potter’s Eyes

I teach Potions, but what I want
Is to teach Defense Against Dark Arts.
In my dungeon, I think of her.
I think of her.
My name’s Harry, I have a scar,
Left from when my mum was killed.
When I’m lonely, I think of her.
I think of her.
I have questionable motives,
And many criticize,
But now this boy has come
Who has her eyes.
He has her eyes.
The boy has Lily’s bright green eyes,
Those eyes that saw James happy long ago.
Those eyes that gave him love
That he did not deserve.
How can I see this boy
And miss those bright green eyes?
I have her eyes.
My mother Lily’s bright green eyes,
Those eyes that closed and left me all alone.
And with her love, protected me from Voldemort
And now I am the boy who has her bright green eyes…
My mother’s eyes remembered
By Snape, Lupin, and more,
And I, though like my father look,
So says even Dumbledore…
He has her eyes.
He has my Lily’s bright green eyes.
Those eyes that loved James Potter, never me.
Those eyes that never saw me,
Never knew that my
Patronus was a doe
Because of Lily’s Eyes!
I want a real family!
I longed for the day
She’d turn and see me standing there.
Would God have let her stay! Would God have let her stay!
He has her eyes. I have her eyes.
He has Lily’s bright green eyes. My mother’s bright green eyes.
Those eyes that saw me,
Those eyes that first I loved so! Loved me long ago.
How can I now forget How can I now forget
That once I dared to be That once she gave her life for me,
To be alive and whole Her love and soul
In Lily’s eyes, In Lily’s eyes,
In Lily’s eyes! In Lily’s eyes!

I am looking for two talented males to record this song. That also involves needing an MP3 or other audio file of the song without the vocals in it. If you can help out, please post a comment and let me know how best to discuss arrangements with you.

You can purchase The Secret Garden (1991 Original Broadway Cast)to hear the original version of “Lily’s Eyes” sung by Robert Westenberg and Mandy Patinkin. I highly recommend it!
