Thursday 13

It’s Thursday. And it’s Earth Day. Here are 13 things my family does to help the Earth:

  1. We use environmentally-friendly Melaleuca products for dishes, laundry, and other cleaning. (I’m a Marketing Executive if you’re interested in becoming a customer.)
  2. We turn off lights when we leave the room.
  3. We have the EcoMaids come and clean our house for us. (Disclosure: We have a barter system set up.)
  4. I only wash full loads of laundry.
  5. Tom only does full loads in the dishwasher.
  6. We use CFL bulbs wherever we can.
  7. We don’t water our lawn.
  8. We sort our recyclables before taking out the trash.
  9. We return our soda bottles and cans to the store to collect our deposit money.
  10. We don’t litter, and we’re teaching TJ not to litter.
  11. This blog is carbon neutral.
  12. We keep our vehicles properly maintained to minimize emissions.
  13. I bring my reusable shopping bags with me and recycle those plastic bags I end up with anyway.

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others’ comments. It’s easy, and fun!

  1. I’ve been trying to teach my son to only do full loads, but he likes to wear the same clothes over and over, and keeps running small ones. Can’t seem to talk any sense into that boy.
