Today is April 15, the dreaded tax day. How could you forget? But what you may not realize is that tomorrow, April 16, is the last day to turn in your completed Census form. It’s very important to mail in your Census on time, or else you’ll end up costing the government money. And that money comes from the taxpayers – you and me. How much money?
If every household in America mailed back their Census form on time, it would save $1.5 billion in taxpayer dollars. For every 1% of the population that does not mail back their Census forms, it costs $85 million to send Census takers door to door to collect the same information. It costs only 42 cents per household to mail back a Census form. It costs an average of $57 per household to send a Census taker to their door. The math is easy… You’re saving yourself money in taxes by mailing in the form and not forcing the government to send someone to your door to answer those 10 easy questions from the Census form.
So remind your family and friends that Friday, April 16 is the last day to send in their Census forms. And make sure to count all of the kids! I’ve sent mine in. Have you sent yours?
